Responsibilities Work in an acute care hospital float pool covering all inpatient units based on competency, including Med / Surg, Step-down, and ICU Shift is 12-hour nights with every other weekend required Assignment length is 13 weeks Patient ratios vary : Med / Surg 1 : 6, Step-down 1 : 4-5, ICU 1 : 2-3 Care for a diverse patient population including cardiac, ortho / neuro, surgical, and medical cases Titrate critical drips in Step-down units including Heparin, Cardizem, nitro, insulin, and others Use EPIC EMR for documentation Required to float to different units based on facility needs Monitor techs are available and RNs may be required to read cardiac strips Royal blue scrubs required as dress code RNs provide care and support for a range of patient conditions including medical, surgical, cardiac, ortho, and neuro cases RNs must be flexible and competent working in various inpatient settings including ICU and Step-down Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed Float pool is supported by a robust team, including nurse aides and monitor techs Orientation consists of 3-4 shifts specific to the department No call requirements, but standby may be required if census is low Returning employees must have a two-year break if previously employed in any WVU Medicine facility Travelers cannot work within WVU facilities for more than one year cumulatively without a two-year break RNs must pass unit-specific EKG testing for ICU and Step-down units if assigned Initial assignment of units is communicated via staffing office with daily assignments Requirements Active unencumbered RN license in WV or a compact state required Minimum 2 years of Med / Surg RN experience required Step-down experience preferred Certifications required : BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) Experience with titrating drips in a Step-down setting required Experience with EPIC EMR strongly preferred Must provide a copy of an unexpired driver's license for consideration Subject to a 50-mile radius rule; local travelers not accepted Must disclose any active or past licensing issues at the time of consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-630251.
