Laboratory Assistant

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs assigned clerical and technical functions in the clinical laboratory

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Record daily temperature for refrigerators, freezers and incubators
• Clean and maintain assigned equipment
• Autoclave necessary supplies
• Aliquot solutions
• Assist in preparation of samples after processing
• Organize sample storage
• Receive and unpack supplies, and monitoring inventory
• Perform data entry
• Scan and file documents according to the laboratory protocols
• Provide administrative assistance
• Performs other job related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education:
• High school diploma
• Experience:
• Preferred: 1 year laboratory experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Frequently required to sit
• Frequently required to stand
• Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
• Frequently required to talk or hear
• Frequently required to utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
• Occasionally exposed to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials
