Police Officer

The City of Bremerton is offering a Police Officer position with a salary range of $3,874.10 to $5,584.53 semi-monthly. The job is located in Bremerton, WA and is a regular full-time position.

The general function of this role includes providing emergency aid, security, and protection to the citizens of Bremerton by patrolling business and residential areas, responding to requests for information and assistance, investigating criminal activities, and ensuring the proper enforcement of laws and regulations.

Representative essential duties and responsibilities include patrolling to prevent crime and enforce laws, observing and reporting conditions conducive to crime, determining the nature of calls, investigating circumstances, making arrests, providing assistance to the public, preparing records and reports, and performing investigative assignments on serious crimes.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include understanding federal, state, county, and city laws, analyzing situations to adopt effective actions, communicating effectively, administering first aid, writing clear reports, using firearms, driving motor vehicles, operating police equipment, and having physical requirements to perform rescue operations and law enforcement duties.

The working conditions may include exposure to dangerous and hazardous situations, irregular working hours, and being subject to call-back for emergency situations. The employee may also be exposed to various physical hazards and unpleasant situations.

Qualifying education and experience include successful completion of a law enforcement training academy or equivalency certificate, current and valid Peace Officer Certification, passing a background investigation, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid Washington State driver's license.

The examination process involves submitting an online or paper application, a personal resume, and a copy of your Washington State Peace Officer Certification. The application packets will be evaluated on the basis of information provided, and applicants will be invited to participate in the oral examination based on their scores.
