Research Technician – Zhu Lab

is a leading independent biomedical research facility dedicated to determining the epigenetic, genetic, molecular and cellular origins of cancer, neurodegenerative disorders and other diseases, and translating those discoveries through global partnerships with academic, clinical, industry and philanthropic collaborators. The Institute is home to more than 400 scientists and support staff and has established one-of-a-kind operations and highly efficient core facilities.

The laboratory of Dr. Qiang Zhu is seeking to hire a Research Technician to be a key part of our research team. Our research focuses on exploring the molecular and cellular mechanisms of neurodegeneration in motor neuron diseases (e.g. ALS) and dementia (e.g. frontotemporal dementia) and more importantly, developing novel therapies for clinical application to treat these devastating diseases. Work in the laboratory is conducted across multiple levels, including human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) culture and differentiation to neurons and glia, primary neuronal and glial cell cultures, mammalian cell lines, rodent models and human nervous system samples. QUALIFICATIONS

• A Bachelor’s degree (or above) in life sciences, focusing on neuroscience, cell biology and molecular biology, or related biomedical fields
• Experience in areas: 1) molecular biology, such as molecular cloning, sequencing and CRISPR; 2) iPSC culture; 3) rodent models, such as CNS stereotactic microinjection/surgeries/behavioral assays
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and handle responsibility and tasks in a reliable, high-quality, and efficient manner
• A motivated individual who shows a strong interest in research and is able to work independently and in a team environment
• Excellent organizational and communication (oral and written) skills
• Salary and title are commensurate with experience
