Summary

The Staff Nurse provides nursing care requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences.

Position Details

  • Department : Outpatient Gastroenterology
  • Full Time : 40 hours / week
  • Shift : Days 7 : 30 am - 4 : 00 pm
  • Location : Onsite

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and direct nursing care with a focus on family-centered care for individuals or groups of patients within the assigned scope of practice.
  • Provide care addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of patients of all ages and developmental stages.
  • Perform leadership and professional duties.
  • Engage in patient-centered care and quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in staff education, precepting new employees, and mentoring clinical staff.
  • Implement evidence-based practices.
  • Support provider staff, promote collaboration, and ensure efficient operation and quality care with excellent customer service.
  • Perform systems-based practice, informatics, and technology duties.
  • May be temporarily assigned to various areas within Akron Children's Hospital based on patient needs.
  • Other duties as required.

    • Technical Expertise

  • Leadership, guidance, and motivation skills; ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience with organizational levels and healthcare settings preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with EMR systems like EPIC preferred.

    • Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or to be obtained within 5 years of hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Valid Ohio RN license; Multistate License required within 90 days for certain departments.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
