Job SummaryThe Supervising Veterinarian is a full-time position responsible for the overall medical direction, quality of care, and clinical performance of the Boyd's Creek Animal Hospital. This individual provides advanced veterinary medical care, mentors and supervises veterinary support staff, ensures adherence to established protocols and best practices, and actively participates in the strategic planning and development of the hospital. The Supervising Veterinarian serves as a key member of the leadership team and is accountable for maintaining a high standard of veterinary medicine and a positive work environment.
- Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat illnesses, injuries, and diseases in clients (dogs and cats).
- Perform surgical procedures as needed, adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Administer vaccinations and medications according to established protocols.
- Provide guidance to pet owners regarding nutrition, behavior, and preventive care.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine through employer-paid continuous education and training.
- Skills
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school.
- Valid and unrestricted veterinary license in the state of Tennessee.
- Minimum of 4 years of clinical practice or retail veterinary experience.
- Strong diagnostic and surgical skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client management skills.
- Proficiency in veterinary practice management software (currently using Avimark).
- Board certification in a veterinary specialty preferred (e.g., Surgery, Internal Medicine, Emergency & Critical Care).
- Bilingual is a plus (Spanish)
