Warehouse Manager

Job Summary : Direct the sourcing, storage and distribution of all food and non-food inventory which moves through WSM's storage and warehouse facilities in accordance with the changing needs of the ministries, communicating across the organization and with external stakeholders to ensure quality, efficiency, effectiveness and appropriate capacity.

Essential Functions :
Intentional guidance and direction for the warehouse team, soliciting input and feedback through frequent formal and informal methodsLead weekly team meetings, including a spiritual formation elementTrains and motivates staff on food handling, equipment use, and sanitationEnsure the continual improvement in the quality, diversity and nutritional value of the food we receive, including regular interaction with individual and corporate gift-in-kind donors and partner organizationsDirect the sourcing, inventory and distribution of centrally-purchased suppliesFacilitate opportunities for non-food gift-in-kind donationsWork with key internal stakeholders to maintain and improve protocols for managing gift-in-kind acquisition and truck schedulesWork with Finance and Advancement to accurately track gifts-in-kind and anticipate strategic needs for community gift drivesCommunicate across WSM, including with key individuals in each department, to ensure a fully-coordinated flow of information and itemsManage food and non-food warehouse and cold storage areas, including regular hands-on movement of goods alongside warehouse staff and volunteersMaintain and improve warehouse protocols for all staff, volunteers and guests, including movement and proper storage of goods, ongoing sharing of unneeded items, safety, training and warehouse access controlEnsure warehouse representation at safety meetings and implementing policiesProactively steward the timely use of warehouse volunteers in collaboration with Volunteer MinistriesEnsure our food acquisition, storage and distribution to kitchen, outreach and partner groups continue to meet ServSafe and other relevant standardsWork with Finance to oversee annual audit of purchased and donated items at the end of each fiscal yearResponsible for department operating budget, including monthly audit trail analysis and assisting with annual operating and capital budget preparationOversee and accountable for annual RMFD in the fall of each yearWork with Vice President of Logistics and Operations to identify new ways to source and distribute goods, based on WSM's strategic partnership and development goalsPractice inventory control through management of IMS and use of barcoding system to maximize efficiency and accuracy of user in a real time forumWork with Vice President of Logistics and Operations to collect and analyze requisition and purchase data within Sales ForceEducation and Experience : This is a cross-functional role : the optimal candidate will either already have a high degree of knowledge, respect and relationship across WSM, or will have strong experience coordinating supply and logistics in a food pantry / food storage setting across another multi-departmental organization of similar or greater size.
Bachelor's Degree in related field preferredHigh school degree7+ years' experience in work which directly involves inventory flow and warehouse / facility; 3+ years directly supervising employeesExperience communicating across a multifaceted organizationComprehensive knowledge of WSM a plusDemonstrated communication skillsDemonstrated excellence in managementExperience running and improving sourcing, storage and distribution flowComputer skills : Word, Excel, Outlook, database softwareAdministrative / technical skill running inventory database systems a plusWorking knowledge of OSHA standards for warehouse a plusSupervise : Warehouse Facilitator, Truck Driver II
