Tax Accountant
D.R. Horton, Inc., the largest homebuilder in the U.S., was founded in 1978 and is a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. It is engaged in the construction and sale of high quality homes designed principally for the entry-level and first time move-up markets. The Company also provides mortgage financing and title services for homebuyers through its mortgage and title subsidiaries. D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Tax Accountant for their Tax Department. The right candidate will assist in the preparation of federal and state tax returns, ensuring tax compliance, preparing tax provisions, research, special projects and other tax matters.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Accumulate, analyze and process financial accounting data to prepare tax returns, tax return workpapers, estimated tax payments and tax provision workpapers
- Work with divisions and other departments to distribute and gather documentation for tax return filings
- Perform detail review of general ledger accounts
- Research and analyze tax laws, planning strategies and other tax issues
- Provide updates on tax legislative changes
- Assist with federal and state income tax audits including the preparation of responses to audit inquiries and notices
- Assist with various special projects and other administrative items
- Organize and maintain records of EFTP's
- Prepare other non-income tax filings
- Update job knowledge by participating in continuing educational opportunities and reading professional publications
- Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
- Able to travel overnight
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; or two plus years of experience and / or related trainingPreferred Qualifications :
