Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner

Job Title : Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP)

Reports To : Physician

Location : Clinic days at Cumberland, and Cranston RI

OR : Roger Williams, Fatima Hospital and Kettle Point Surgery Center

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES :

The PA or NP will be responsible for the evaluation and nonoperative management of patients with musculoskeletal complaints and acute / chronic conditions as well as functioning as a surgical assistant.

Essential Job Functions :

• Maintain an independent schedule and evaluate patients independently as well as under the direction of the supervising physician.
• Assist physician in examining and diagnosing musculoskeletal and joint problems.
• Assist in surgery and collaborate with the physician and surgical team to provide support during the procedure.
• Order and interpret test results and recommend treatment of patients.
• Administer injections as needed when indicated.
• Provide postoperative patient care.
• Write prescriptions and medical orders.
• Maintain detailed and accurate medical records of patients' assessments, surgical procedures, and post-operative care.
• Participate in Division research and educational activities.
• Interact and work with orthopedic surgery residents and division fellows.
• Additional duties as assigned to meet office needs.
