Description

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients from diverse age groups, utilizing both standardized assessments and observational analyses.
  • Craft individualized treatment plans targeting immediate challenges and long-term goals related to communication, cognition, or swallowing.
  • Deliver focused, one-on-one speech therapy aimed at fostering clarity in communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing skills.
  • Engage in collaborative efforts with physical and occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and families to establish seamless care strategies.
  • Provide education for patients and their families to encourage progress outside of therapy sessions.
  • Occasionally participate in inpatient speech evaluations and interventions, ensuring every stage of the treatment continuum is addressed.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation in compliance with existing state and federal standards and organizational policies.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in the field by participating in ongoing education and collaborating with peers.

Education

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Successful completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if ASHA certification is not yet obtained.
  • Certifications

  • Valid state license as a Speech Language Pathologist .
  • Preferred : Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be acquired within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Skills

  • Expertise in evidence-based treatments covering all age demographics, accompanied by a solid understanding of developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Exceptional inter-personal communication capabilities with patients and interdisciplinary care teams.
  • Adept at adjusting therapy techniques to accommodate varied cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Strong clinical intuition and critical thinking capacities.
  • Comfortable working with electronic medical records and adhering to documentation requirements.
