Health & Safety Specialist

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Health and Safety Specialist at our East Chicago, Indiana operation. The Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for providing leadership, counsel, and acting as an effective facilitator to influence the development of a proactive approach to safety and health.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Act as a coach and mentor to line managers and supervisors in Safety leadership and assist them in executing their Safety responsibilities.
• Sustain existing management systems (ISO 45001) to ensure the effective execution of the Safety and Health Plan.
• Drive injury / fatality prevention and hazard assessment efforts and activities.
• Provide technical expertise in new equipment / facilities development by actively participating in Project Safety and Health reviews, audits, and internal self-assessments.
• Utilize and instruct others in the Cleveland-Cliffs Steel Safety and Health program, protocols, and criteria, by conducting safety audits and departmental safety observations.
• Provide technical expertise and participate in injury / incident investigations to identify root cause analysis and provide recommendations to prevent a recurrence.
• Maintain technical expertise and counsel management on applicable Local, State, Federal, and Corporate Health and Safety regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
