Compensation and Salary :

$7,660 - $8,102 monthly Education and EMS incentive pay for qualified employees.

Your day as a Fire Engineer

As a Fire Engineer at Jackson County Fire District 5, you can expect a dynamic day-to-day experience focused on safety and efficiency. Your role will involve operating and maintaining fire apparatus, ensuring that all equipment is operational and ready.

To thrive as a Fire Engineer at Jackson County Fire District 5, you must bring a blend of technical knowledge, practical experience, and interpersonal skills. A valid driver's license, along with certification as an Oregon or National Registry EMT in good standing, is required. You'll need to have your NFPA Apparatus Equipped with a Fire Pump certification to operate the equipment confidently.

Experience is vital, with a minimum of two years of full-time paid experience in fire suppression, focusing on structural fire protection and emergency medical service delivery. Important skills include strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and a customer-centric mindset, ensuring successful teamwork in high-pressure situations.

Preferred qualifications include certifications in NFPA Mobile Water Supply Apparatus and Wildland Fire Apparatus, as well as an associate degree in Fire Science or a related field.

TENTATIVE TIMELINE :

  • End of October : Application review and Study Guide provided to eligible candidates
  • December week 1 : PAT, Written Test, Practical Test
  • December week 2 : Final scores reviewed and confirmed - Civil Service Meeting to certify register
