Job at a Glance

  • This is a long-term contract, with an initial term through June 2026, possibility of extension but the preference is to convert to FTE
  • Pay range is $55-60 / hr on W2; Eligible to sign up for benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401k) on day 1
  • Hybrid position in downtown Pittsburgh but may consider candidates who work in Cleveland, OH
  • Projects involve designing and implementing new applications, maintaining existing applications, and supporting RTB (Run-the-Bank) functions
  • Seeking candidates with a combination of experience around Spark 3, Python, Shell Scripting, Hadoop, Cloudera (admin, HDFS file processing), Data / System Architecture, Data Modeling (Erwin Tool), Data Mining / Reporting Tools (e.g., Alation)

Senior Big Data Engineer

Overview

This position involves supporting regulatory-driven data initiatives within a banking environment. The role requires designing and maintaining applications, supporting Run-the-Bank functions, and collaborating within a highly experienced team to meet project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement new applications
  • Maintain existing applications
  • Support Run-the-Bank (RTB) functions
  • Contribute to data requirements based on regulatory needs
  • Collaborate with team members in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Integrate tools like Spark, Python, Shell Scripting, Hadoop, and Cloudera for data processing
  • Apply agile methodologies and use tools such as Jira, Git Bash, Jenkins, and uDeploy
  • Required Skills

  • 4+ years of experience with Spark 3, Python, Shell Scripting, Hadoop, and Cloudera
  • Strong knowledge of Data / System Architecture and Data Modeling (Erwin Tool)
  • Experience with Data Mining and Reporting Tools (e.g., Alation)
  • Bachelor's degree (Master's or relevant certifications preferred)
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology, Jira, Git Bash, Jenkins, uDeploy, and CA7
  • Banking industry experience and at least 3 years of development work
  • Excellent analytical skills and team collaboration abilities
  • Preferred Skills

  • Experience working within a regulatory data environment
  • Prior banking experience
  • Knowledge of data analysis and reporting in financial services
  • Experience in data architecture and data modeling projects
