Purpose of Role :
Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, the Mine Hydrogeologist will assist the project by collecting, processing, and interpreting data. The work environment provides a diverse experience working with various professionals from different departments with responsibilities outside and in-office.
Role Accountabilities :
- Support the senior geotechnical engineer with the feasibility study by critically assessing the technical and financial aspects of the project.
- Independently performs routine work such as : collecting and assessing hydrogeological data, identifying hazards, site inspections and reports, coordinating with staff and consultants.
- Review and perform borehole testing such as packer, airlift, pump, and injection tests.
- Collect and assess monitoring data.
- QA / QC hydrogeological and geotechnical data.
- Read technical reports and provide summaries of the contents.
- Assist with developing ground water monitoring plans and data collection systems.
- Provide support on projects related to the hydrology and geotechnical program.
- Complete workplace examinations identifying safety hazards.
- Assist with planning for hydrology and geotechnical data acquisition in support of the feasibility study.
Minimum Qualifications and Education :
Bachelor of Engineering or Science in Hydrology, Mining, Civil, Geological, Geotechnical, or related engineering / science discipline is required.Previous experience installing piezometers and borehole testing.Proficient with MS Office, related software, and computers.Ability to travel to and from sites is required.Strong communication and team skills are required.Preferred Qualification :
Previous experience at a mine site is preferred.Experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, MODFLOW, SEEP / W, MinePlan, other related software.
