Job Overview :

The Environmental Engagement Manager will be responsible for working with various communities and management teams to develop and implement fun-filled, enriching events and programs focusing on the outdoors and the environment. The goal of this position is to help teach children and adults a deeper understanding of nature, to feel comfortable in nature, and to learn techniques that make us more responsible in the way nature is treated. This individual will build and foster professional relationships with members and residents to assist in custom-designing programs to encourage resident participation.  The position requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment. Strong organizational, marketing, special event planning, customer service, and supervisory skills are required with effective interpersonal, writing and oral communication abilities. Your Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for developing and implementing educational programs and events for children and adults to enhance their understanding of the Texas landscape and environment for several communities.  These duties include all aspects of planning, including, but not limited to, the development, implementation and marketing of the events for the community, all programs and activities, mailings, managing rsvp’s, negotiating and contracting caterers / vendors, as well as facilitating the set-up and tear-down of each event
  • Responsible for working with appropriate committees, boards, builders, associates, and volunteers to support.
  • Work collaboratively with the Lifestyle Manager in each community to implement the various programs and events.
  • Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and community groups to promote environmental awareness and stewardship.
  • Organize and lead workshops, field trips, and other activities that highlight the unique aspects of the Texas environment within each community.
  • Manage and coordinate volunteer efforts to support environmental initiatives.
  • Participate in the facilitation of a monthly lifestyle meeting to education and collaborate with other lifestyle associates, elevating the resident experience.
  • Create a bi-monthly lifestyle newsletter / tips that will improve lifestyle programs across the state, aimed at cross-sharing to advance on the lifestyle program.
  • Assist with coordinating and leading an annual lifestyle summit for division lifestyle and leadership, partnering with the Market President, Vice President and Regional Directors.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of engagement programs and make improvements as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between the management team and community stakeholders to foster positive relationships and partnerships.
  • Greets employees, guests, and visitors, as appropriate.

Skills - Qualifications :

  • Education / Training : College degree preferred, but not required. Texas Master Naturalist certification is required.
  • Qualifications : The qualified candidate will be enthusiastic, energetic and outgoing with a background in recreation, and / or social event planning or adjacent industry. Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and platform speaking are a requirement. Ability to interact and build relationships with adults of all ages. Strong working knowledge of customer service principles and practices. Customer relationship-development and client retention experience a plus. Must be friendly, courteous, service-oriented, and enjoy working with a variety of people. Must possess strong organization skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple and competing priorities. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Solid time management skills required. Highly organized and possesses excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and platform speaking. Minimum of 8 years of experience in non-profit engagement, specifically in teaching and organizing events related to environmental education. Strong knowledge of the Texas landscape and environmental issues. Proven track record of successful program development and implementation. Experience in managing volunteers and coordinating community events. Understanding of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education engagement.
  • Computer literacy :  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required. Applicant must have working knowledge of how to operate Constant Contact, SquareSpace and Canva.

    Compensation :   $85000 - $100000 / year
