Join Caterpillar's fastest-growing division in Griffin, GA as a Material Handler II where you'll play a key role in supporting logistics operations that keep our production running smoothly. In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for moving, storing, and preparing materials using various equipment while ensuring safety and efficiency. What You Will Do
- Cross-train in shipping, receiving, and material handling / storage.
- Read work orders or follow verbal instructions to identify materials or containers to be moved.
- Load and unload materials by hand onto / from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
- Secure materials in vehicles using strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent damage during transit.
- Transport materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, and carts to designated areas.
- Count, weigh, and record quantities of materials handled on daily production sheets.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area by consolidating materials and following 5S procedures.
- Properly dispose of scrap materials.
- Assemble crates for material containment.
- Perform pre-shift safety checks on equipment and handling tools.
- Promote and maintain a Safety Driven workplace.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Have
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Ability to work independently with minimal supervisionMinimum of 2 months' experience in a machining, manufacturing, or warehouse environment or industry certificationAbility to work well with othersAbility to read, write, and interpret documents in EnglishGeneral knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and / or PowerPointAbility to adhere to safety proceduresWhat Will Put You Ahead
Experience working with internal warehouse management systems (WMS)Previous experience and / or certification in operating forklifts, tugger, and / or other power equipmentPrevious experience working in a logistics environment supporting assembly of productsPrevious experience with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard WorkPhysical Requirements
