Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $1620–$1660 per week
Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details
Location : Athens, Texas 75751 (East Texas healthcare jobs)
Facility Setting : Cardiac Stepdown / Intermediate Care (IMC) – Med / Surg Floor
Assignment Type : Travel RN Contract
Contract Duration : 12 weeks (Start : 11 / 17 / 2025 – End : 2 / 9 / 2026)
Shift : Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19 : 00 – 07 : 00)
Weekly Hours : 36
Patient Population : Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
Unit Size : 50 beds, daily census 18-25
Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Texas or compact state
Minimum 2 years of recent Cardiac Stepdown or Intermediate Care (IMC) experience
BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required
NIHSS (Stroke Scale) certification preferred
EPIC electronic health record (EHR) charting experience required
Previous travel RN experience required
Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, oxygen therapy, and rapid response protocols
Experience with peripheral and central line care, chest tube management, and wound care
Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
Applicants must reside outside specified local counties (see job details for exclusions)
Cardiac Stepdown Nurse Responsibilities
Deliver direct nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients, including cardiac monitoring and management of cardiac drips (no titration)
Perform non-invasive airway management and oxygen protocol management
Administer medications and blood products according to hospital protocols
Utilize EPIC for accurate computerized documentation and patient record-keeping
Initiate rapid response teams as needed for patient emergencies
Manage peripheral and central lines, chest tubes, and tracheostomies
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including respiratory therapists and unit secretaries
Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 5-6 to ensure high-quality patient care
Float to similar Med / Surg or IMC units as required
