Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 12 / 01 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Unit Description – 7 North Orthopedic / Med-Surg Unit Type of Care : Medical-Surgical and Orthopedic care for adult and geriatric patients. Provides both general med-surg care and post-operative orthopedic management. Focus on recovery and rehabilitation following total joint replacements and orthopedic trauma. Patient Population : Adult and geriatric patients requiring post-surgical, orthopedic, and general medical care. Common diagnoses include fractures, joint replacements, infections, diabetes, COPD, CHF, and post-operative recovery. Unit Capacity : Average census : Moderate to high acuity Staffing ratio : 1 : 5 (days, nights, weekends) Nursing Responsibilities : Monitor vital signs, pain, neurovascular checks, and surgical sites. Manage orthopedic traction, surgical drains, and peripheral nerve block catheters. Provide wound care, wound vac therapy, and dressing changes. Administer medications including PCA and IV therapy. Care for patients with oxygen therapy, chest tubes, and tracheostomies. Collaborate with physical therapy and other interdisciplinary teams for mobility and discharge planning.
