Overview

Software Engineer II at Iron Systems, Inc. Location : US - CA - Bay Area - Remote. Iron Systems is an innovative, customer-focused provider of custom-built computing infrastructure platforms such as network servers, storage, OEM / ODM appliances & embedded systems.

Summary

The main function of a software engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work.
A typical software engineer researches, designs, develops and tests operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific and general computing applications.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain applications for Android OS-based smartphones using modern Android tech stack.

Increase quality and stability of our software products, identify bugs, increase test coverage and implement tools to prevent regressions in our apps.

Work with new generation of consumer hardware, setup integrations between this new hardware and existing companion app on Android and iOS.

Skills

Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and manage ones time.

Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issues.

Develop software on Android (required) and iOS (preferred) tech stack.

Coordinate feature launches across multiple teams, maintain quality standards and test coverage.

Work with the next generation of Android-based consumer hardware, being able to flash firmware and use command line tools to change device state.

Education / Experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required.
