Position Summary
The Seasonal Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides person-centered support to individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities during holiday breaks and summer periods. This role focuses on assisting individuals in daily living skills, recreational activities, community outings, and promoting independence in a safe and respectful environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and supervision to individuals according to their support plans.
- Assist with daily living activities such as meal preparation, hygiene, mobility, and medication reminders (if applicable).
- Engage individuals in meaningful recreational, social, and community activities during break periods.
- Implement behavior support plans and encourage positive, respectful communication.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment.
- Document services, progress notes, and incident reports accurately and promptly.
- Support individuals in achieving personal goals and fostering independence.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and families as needed.
- Follow all agency policies, safety procedures, and state regulations.
Qualifications
- Minimum age 18 (or as required by state).
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours during holiday breaks and summer months.
- Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift and assist individuals as needed.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
Work Environment
- May involve direct care, including physical assistance.
- Work may take place in residential settings, day programs, or community locations.
- Seasonal schedule; hours vary based on organizational needs.
