Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 12 / 09 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg position on nights in a Level III Trauma Center, requiring a MT or compact RN license and strong med / surg experience. Responsibilities Work in a hospital Med / Surg unit with 40 beds located on the 3rd floor Handle primarily medical patients including COPD, CHF, CAD, diabetes, dementia, kidney failure, sepsis, and various wounds, with occasional surgical cases Patient ratio is 1 : 5-6 Unit supports stroke patients and is stroke certified Required to float to Med / Surg Combo (Surgical / Oncology), ED boarders, and PCU for medical overflow as needed Uses Meditech for EMR, Baxter IV pumps, Pyxis for medication dispensing, and Voalte for communication Night shift schedule : 12-hour shifts (1930-0700), with 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks Team includes 6-8 RNs and 4-6 CNAs per shift, with 1-2 shift supervisors and health unit clerk on days Bedside shift report required; shift huddle at start of each shift First-time travelers are accepted if they possess strong experience 1 day general orientation (includes Meditech training) and a 12-hour acute care unit orientation with cross-training to the surgical unit Expect 1-2 holiday shifts over the winter Flexible scheduling with advance approval required for time off Scrubs must be clean; no color, hair color, tattoo, or piercing restrictions Free parking available with shuttle service in winter Hourly rounding and bedside shift reporting are unit requirements Potential for assignment extension or full-time conversion Requirements Active MT or compact RN license Minimum 1 year of strong, broad Med / Surg experience Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required Ability to manage epidural / PCA / meds, drains / ostomies, chest tubes, wound care, and general post-surgical recovery Physical ability to care for acute care patients Willingness to float as needed EMR experience with Meditech preferred Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-634564.
