Reports To : Information Technology Director

The Cyber Security Specialist is responsible for protecting the organizations information systems networks and data from cyber threats vulnerabilities and attacks. This position plays a critical role in implementing monitoring and maintaining security measures to ensure the integrity confidentiality and availability of all digital assets. The Specialist works collaboratively with the IT team and other departments to respond to security incidents ensure compliance with relevant regulations and promote a culture of security awareness.

Primary Responsibilities

• Implement monitor and manage security systems including firewalls intrusion detection / prevention systems (IDS / IPS) security information and event management (SIEM) tools and endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.
• Conduct regular vulnerability scans assessments and penetration testing to identify and address security weaknesses in systems and applications.
• Lead and participate in security incident response activities including investigation containment eradication recovery and post-incident analysis.
• Develop update and enforce cybersecurity policies procedures and best practices across the organization.
• Perform security audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g. HIPAA HITRUST NIST SOC 2 ISO 27001).
• Provide security awareness training and education to employees to minimize human-related security risks.
• Stay current with the latest cybersecurity threats trends technologies and vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate security controls.
• Collaborate with IT infrastructure and IT operations staff to implement security controls patches and configurations and ensure security is embedded in the design and implementation of new systems and applications.
• Monitor security alerts and logs for suspicious activity and potential breaches taking immediate action as required.
• Manage access controls and identity management systems ensuring least privilege principles are applied.
