Senior Manager - Software Engineering - Developer Experience & Tooling
Salesforce is looking for a Sr. Manager with extensive background in building products and services in a large-scale environment with a strong focus on language stacks and frameworks. The Manager will lead a team responsible for building and maintaining key language frameworks used at Salesforce and the Salesforce micro-service chassis for languages such as Java, Go, and Python, as well as other top language stacks. The Manager will also be responsible for managing Shared Repositories leveraged by development teams across Salesforce. The team's charter includes providing a reliable home for micro-services and libraries at Salesforce, and a path to production services built using this framework and hosted within these repositories.
Responsibilities
Drive the execution and delivery of features by collaborating with many multi-functional teams, architects, product owners and engineers
Daily management of stand-ups as the Scrum Master for engineering teams
Partner with PO to align with objectives, priorities, tradeoffs, and risk
Ensure teams have clear priorities and adequate resources
Empower the delivery team to self-coordinate
Be a multiplier and have a passion for team and team members' success
Provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members
Participate in architecture discussions and planning
Participate in multi-functional coordination, planning, and reviews with leads from other engineering teams
Required Experience
5+ years of relevant experience in software development with a focus on Developer Experience tooling and 3+ years of experience managing a distributed team
Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational and time-management skills
Ability to be flexible, proactive, and comfortable working with minimal specifications
Experience in hiring, mentoring, and leading engineers
Working experience of software engineering best practices including coding standards, code reviews, SCM, CI, build processes, testing, and operations
Experience with Agile development methodologies; Scrum Master experience required
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and product management to understand requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs
Familiarity with Spring, Spring Boot, Bazel, Maven & Gradle, Python, Golang, Java, Kotlin, build / deployment processes (CI / CD), IDEs & Code Indexing, testing frameworks, source control, and artifact management is a plus
Ability to empower software engineers by assisting them in finding solutions to complex technical customer support issues that require in-depth knowledge of the various integration points of the tools and technologies listed above, while ensuring timely resolution is a plus
