Responsibilities
Supports physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and / or nurses by taking vitals, assisting in medical examinations and other specific procedures, and providing translation services.
- As a Float, cover varying shifts and locations within various clinics and / or the VCC mobile medical van and may include evening and / or Saturday schedules
- Print and review schedule daily in preparation for the day
- Prepare patients for examination and assist clinicians with the examination and / or procedure
- Take vital signs, height and weight of patients; plot growth charts; record immunizations
- Perform simple laboratory and screening tests customarily performed in a medical office such as visual acuity, audiometric screening, Snellen tests, spirometry tests and EKG's
- Set up appropriate instrument trays for special procedures

- Give counseling, care and follow-up instructions, health education and materials to patients as instructed by provider
Qualifications
Minimum
High school graduate or equivalentBilingual English / SpanishClinical Medical Assistant Certification indicating completion of program from an approved school or hospitalMinimum five years' back office or three years' specialty practice experienceCurrent CPR / BLS certification (Infant, Child and Adult)Phlebotomy certificationValid California driver's license, vehicle insurance and reliable transportationRequired Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Knowledge of community health centers, public assistance programs, state and federal regulations and managed care systemsExcellent verbal and written skills necessary for communication with patients / clients, providers and other staffExcellent customer service skills and commitment to providing the highest level of customer satisfactionEmergency response capabilities for possible crisis situationAbility to function in a fast-paced, noisy environmentExperience / familiarity with computers, Microsoft Office products (Word / Excel), business e-mail, communication systems and internet search capabilitiesPay Range
