Job Title: Electrician

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs all general maintenance, preventative maintenance, repairs, installations, testing and monitoring of the hospital's electrical systems and wiring, including high, medium and low voltage systems and communication (voice and data) wiring. Performs other duties as assigned to assist in achieving overall division and hospital goals. Safety and regulatory compliance is a condition of employment. May be required to work other shifts as well as rotating schedules and overtime.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: High school graduate or equivalent plus accredited trade or vocational training with one (1) year minimum experience, preferably in a hospital setting. General knowledge of NEC, NFPA and local code requirements. Previously completed apprenticeship program highly desirable but not required. Participates in orientation and continuing education in order to maintain knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Working knowledge and ability to utilize standard electrical testing equipment including but not limited to VOM, ammeters, circuit tracers, meggers, ground fault detection equipment, etc. Experience with high voltage switch gear, low voltage circuitry, emergency power systems, UPS power systems and emergency generators. Ability to read and interpret blue prints and electrical schematics. Ability to calculate material requirements from drawing and schematics.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS: Office/clinical/outdoors/industrial setting. Exposure class I.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Heavy work. Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, walking, standing, and carrying.
WORK CONTACT GROUP: All service staff, medical staff, patients, visitors, contractors, vendors, and various regulatory and professional service staff.

EXPECTATIONS Provide emergency response to all hospital electrical systems as required. Performs preventative maintenance and repair on all hospital electrical systems. Transfer power to alternate sources when needed. Performs emergency generator testing. Tests and maintains emergency power systems. Maintains hospital nurse call system. Installs power and communication wiring. Supports construction/renovation project installations as assigned. Orders needed parts and materials and follows-up to ensure timely delivery. Performs general cleaning of maintenance areas and mechanical rooms. Follows rules, policies, and directions and seeks clarification if necessary. Works efficiently and completes assigned tasks in a timely manner. Projects a positive and professional image of self and the hospital. Adheres to hospital confidentiality statement.
Pay Range: $25.85-37.50
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
