YOU

As a Human Resources Generalist, you will support the Human Resources team with all phases of day-to-day HR management activities, including recruiting, onboarding, compliance with company policies and local / state / federal laws, employee relations, Workday administration, and terminations. The Human Resources Generalist will also serve as a champion of the company culture-ensuring that our values are reflected in all actions, decisions, and interactions. This role will actively seek opportunities to engage employees, strengthen workplace culture, and improve HR processes to deliver better results for employees, managers, and the organization.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Foster a Positive, Engaged, and Values-Driven Culture (40%)

  • Champion and model Simpson Strong-Tie's culture and core values through daily interactions, decisions, and communication.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to employees and leaders by fostering open communication, building trust, and maintaining a fair and consistent approach to employee relations.
  • Address employee concerns promptly and professionally, conducting investigations and recommending appropriate resolutions that align with policy and promote a positive work environment.
  • Actively support employee engagement efforts by coordinating and participating in recognition programs, events, and initiatives that strengthen culture and connection.
  • Promote inclusion, accountability, and collaboration across teams by supporting branch and regional culture initiatives.

Support Leadership Development and Employee Growth (30%)

  • Partner with Learning & Organizational Development (L&OD) to support programs such as Strong Leaders, Emerging Leaders, and other development initiatives.
  • Encourage participation in leadership and skills-based training, ensuring employees have access to resources that support career growth.
  • Coach and mentor employees and supervisors on communication, feedback, and development planning to strengthen leadership capabilities.
  • Assist in facilitating workshops or follow-up sessions that reinforce learning and drive accountability for growth.
  • Attract, Hire, and Onboard a No-Equal Workforce (15%)

  • Partner with hiring managers and Talent Acquisition to attract, interview, and hire candidates who align with the company's values and competencies.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of accurate job descriptions that reflect team responsibilities, required skills, and growth opportunities.
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a smooth, engaging, and informative new hire experience.
  • Assist with contingent workforce management and vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with company and legal requirements.
  • Ensure Compliance, Efficiency, and Operational Excellence (15%)

  • Administer and maintain HR processes and systems including Workday, ensuring accurate employee data and reporting.
  • Assist in administering benefits, leave of absence programs (FMLA, ADA, etc.), and other HR policies in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all employment-related regulations, including recordkeeping, EEO, and safety requirements.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements that enhance HR service delivery and operational effectiveness.
  • DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, HR, Communication or Liberal Arts or other applicable degree / or at least 5 years of equivalent work related experience preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience in progressive human resources experience with a focus in employee relations, training, process improvement, recruiting, policy interpretation and administration, performance management and project management.
  • HR Certification such as : HRCI / SHRM related Certification
  • Planning and Organizing. Uses comprehensive knowledge and skills to work independently while providing guidance and training to others on planning, organizing, prioritizing and overseeing activities to efficiently meet business objectives

  • Self-management : Set priorities, goals and timelines to achieve maximum productivity. Manage multiple projects and competing priorities. Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner. Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Speaking and communication : Communicate verbally in an appropriate way for the audience he / she is speaking to. Communicate effectively with co-workers. Listen with full attention to what others are saying, making sure to understand the needs being expressed, asking questions as appropriate without interrupting at an inappropriate time. Ability to effectively present information to top management, customers, and other groups.

  • Microsoft Office and computer skills : Ability to utilize Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer to effectively complete work.

    This full-time, exempt position is located in McKinney, TX

    RELOCATION

    Relocation will not be considered for this position.

    PAY

    $65,200 - $104,300 / year
