Position Overview
The Staff Accountant at Fountain Life will be responsible for managing core accounting functions with an emphasis on payroll, tax compliance, and reconciliations. This role will support the accuracy of the company's financial reporting by ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, while maintaining reliable accounting records. The Staff Accountant will collaborate across departments to support day-to-day accounting operations, manage filings, and assist with audits and special projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing : Accurately process payroll on a recurring basis, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and resolve payroll-related inquiries.
- Compliance Management : Oversee local and out-of-state payroll, employment, and business compliance requirements, including registrations, filings, and renewals.
- Sales & Use Tax : Prepare, file, and reconcile Sales and Use Tax returns across multiple states.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations : Perform monthly reconciliations of key balance sheet accounts, including payroll liabilities, accruals, and other accounts as assigned.
- State Filings & Resolutions : Manage routine state filings, correspondence, and tax resolution matters in coordination with regulatory agencies.
- General Accounting : Support general ledger entries, month-end close, and preparation of schedules for internal and external reporting.
- Work closely with HR on enrollment and administration of benefits as well as on insurance policy enrollments such as Workers Compensation, EPLO, D&O, Malpractice and others.
- Ad Hoc Projects : Assist with special projects, audits, and process improvements as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.2-4 years of accounting experience (public or private), preferably including payroll and multi-state compliance.Minimum of 5 years of payroll administration experience.Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory filing requirements.Experience with Sales & Use tax filings and reconciliations.Proficiency with accounting software (Sage Intacct a plus) and Excel.Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teamsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesThe pay range for this role is :
