Position Summary
We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer (PE) to lead the firm’s mechanical design function. This key leadership position is responsible for the design, coordination, and technical execution of HVAC and plumbing systems for a wide range of residential and commercial building projects. The ideal candidate is a self-driven professional who enjoys technical depth, client interaction, and mentoring younger engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the mechanical design process for HVAC and plumbing systems from concept through construction.Perform site assessments, feasibility studies, and calculations for load, ventilation, and energy performance.Oversee the preparation of construction documents including drawings, specifications, and schedules.Serve as Engineer of Record for mechanical systems.Review and seal drawings and submittals for code compliance and technical accuracy.Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other disciplines to ensure seamless project coordination.Participate in project meetings, provide client consultation, and represent the mechanical discipline externally.Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and professional development.Contribute to firm-wide standards, templates, and continuous improvement initiatives.Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Massachusetts preferred).Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.8+ years of experience in mechanical design for MEP consulting projects.Expertise in HVAC system design for residential, commercial, and institutional projects.Working knowledge of plumbing system design and coordination.Proficiency with Autodesk Revit MEP and AutoCAD.Strong understanding of local and national codes, including Massachusetts Building Code, ASHRAE, and NFPA standards.Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across disciplines.Location & Salary
