Title : Structural Engineer
Location : San Antonio, Texas (Hybrid)
Full-Time Position :
- Salary ranging from $90,000-120,000 per year, depending on experience
General Responsibilities :
The Structural Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and support in the planning, design, and execution of remedial and small-scale new civil and structural engineering projects, as it pertains to advising existing or potential failures. This role involves performing engineering analyses, preparing detailed reports, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards. The Structural Engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities :
Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects.Participate in pre-task planning.Report any safety issues or concerns to management.Perform structural analysis and design for foundations, framing systems, and load-bearing elements.Develop engineering calculations and recommendations for structural integrity and compliance with industry standards.Review structural and civil plans, specifications, and drawings for accuracy and adherence to project requirements.Ensure designs meet regulatory guidelines and client expectations.Collaborate with structural engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to integrate structural solutions into overall project designs.Support project managers in scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation for structural components.Conduct site inspections during construction phases to verify structural integrity and compliance with design specifications.Provide recommendations for corrective actions when deviations are identified.Prepare detailed engineering reports, design calculations, and technical recommendations for review by the Professional Engineer of Record.Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure timely submission of deliverables.Adhere to all safety protocols and engineering standards throughout project execution.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing structural engineering practices.Oversee a local division of staff to help train and grow while working state wide and potentially nationally with other offices to assist as needed based on expertise.Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field)Master’s degree preferred for advanced structural design roles.Licensure :
Professional Engineer (PE) license for the State of Texas.Experience :
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in civil / structural engineering projects, including design and field work. Previous managerial role preferred.Technical Skills :
Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ETABS) and CAD tools; familiarity with BIM platforms (e.g., Revit).Knowledge :
Strong understanding of building codes (IBC, AISC, ACI) and local / state regulations; working knowledge of geotechnical principles and their impact on structural design.Soft Skills :
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Ability to help sell and participate in local chapters for membership preferred.Project Management :
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while helping to build and maintain the current support staff.Preferred Skills :
