About The Position

Job Title : Chemistry Medical Technologist – Evenings

Location :  Carbondale, IL 62901

Job Type : Contract (13 weeks)

Shift :

Evening Shift (Wednesdays to Sundays, 1 : 30 PM – 10 : 00 PM)

Mondays and Tuesdays Off

Job Summary :

We are seeking a dedicated Chemistry Medical Technologist to join our laboratory team. The ideal candidate will perform clinical laboratory testing in the chemistry specialty, ensuring accuracy and reliability of test results during the evening shift. This position requires at least 2 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities :

Perform and oversee clinical chemistry testing according to established protocols and quality standards.

Analyze specimens using automated and manual methods and interpret results accurately.

Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.

Ensure compliance with safety, quality assurance, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA).

Document all test results and laboratory activities accurately in logs and laboratory information systems (LIS).

Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding test results and laboratory issues.

Participate in laboratory quality control, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Assist in training and mentoring junior staff or new hires as needed.

Adhere to confidentiality agreements and hospital policies.

Support and comply with hospital infection control and hazardous drug handling procedures.

Requirements :

Minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical laboratory chemistry testing.

Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and clinical laboratory procedures.

Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Flexibility to work evening shifts Wednesday through Sunday.
