About the Role

We’re on a mission to redefine farming — growing fresh, flavorful strawberries in a cutting-edge indoor vertical environment. As our Director of Facilities Engineering & Maintenance , you’ll be a key member of the Farm Operations leadership team. You’ll lead the strategy and execution of facilities and maintenance functions, ensuring our automated farm systems and facilities operate at peak performance as we scale.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll guide a team of engineers and technicians, partner cross-functionally across operations, supply chain, and finance, and shape the systems and processes that keep our farms running reliably, safely, and sustainably.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead & Inspire : Manage, mentor, and support Facility Engineers and Maintenance Technicians, providing both strategic direction and hands-on troubleshooting guidance.
  • Drive Operational Excellence : Oversee predictive and preventative maintenance programs, optimize CMMS usage, and ensure strong OEE and PM completion rates.
  • Optimize Facilities & Equipment : Direct facility engineering projects, equipment upgrades, and vendor contracts to maximize uptime, reliability, and food safety.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership : Collaborate with Finance on budgets / forecasts, partner with Supply Chain on service contracts and parts planning, and align with Operations on training and safety initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement : Implement processes, standards, and improvements that reduce downtime, extend asset life, and support rapid scaling.
  • Ensure Compliance & Safety : Maintain logs and documentation to meet OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF requirements, and support food safety certifications.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Computer Engineering or equivalent years of experience.
  • 15+ years of progressive facilities / maintenance experience in large industrial or food manufacturing environments, including 5+ years in leadership roles.
  • Proven success leading engineers / technicians and creating new maintenance systems from scratch.
  • Strong technical skills : PLC navigation, CMMS optimization, and equipment lifecycle management.
  • Financial acumen : able to build and manage budgets, analyze operating statements, and make cost-effective decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and influence at all levels.
  • Flexibility to work days, nights, or weekends as project needs require.
  • Physical capability : lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, work in cold storage (32°F), and at heights up to 40 feet.
  • Bilingual English / Spanish highly desired.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future without the need for visa sponsorship.
  • Why Join Us

  • Be part of an innovative company transforming agriculture with advanced indoor farming technology.
  • Lead critical engineering and maintenance functions at a state-of-the-art strawberry farm.
  • Join a culture that values safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
