The Accounting Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating all the facility's activities concerning financial administration including general accounting, payroll, purchasing, budgeting, financial and statistical reporting, and all other aspects of the facility's accounting department. Responsible for monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, account analysis and monthly closing entries. Supervises all daily functions of the general accounting department, preparation of daily and weekly FTE reports, assists the CFO in completion of year-end reimbursement schedules, annual budget preparation and internal and external audits.
Roles and Responsibilities :
- Develops and implements financial systems, processes, controls, and procedures for accounting functions ensuring compliance with all GAAP standards.
- Plans and monitors budget and fiscal integrity for a given year consistent with company mission and goals. Develops and achieves budget targets for the department and the facility.
- Oversees daily operation of entire finance department.
- Provides all financial information, budgets, and financial forecasts to operating management in a routine and timely manner ensuring accuracy in trends and costing across the company.
- Recommends benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of the facility and departments.
- Leads a team of highly engaged members thru hiring, orienting, performance assessment and management, motivating, training, scheduling, and coaching to meet department goals and ensure effective and efficient department operation.
- Monitors and analyzes monthly operating results against budget and collaborates with department heads on means of improving trends. Monitors the expenditures of the facility to maintain compliance with the budget. Operates within the confines of the annual budget as adjusted for volume.
- Facilitates timely closing of monthly financial records and preparation of accurate financial reports. Prepares general journal entries in relation to monthly closing of financial records.
- Directs and coordinates debt financing and debt service payments with outside agencies.
- Manages the preparation of the official annual report and annual disclosures of actual revenues, transfers and expenses.
- Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory reporting requirements and prepares required compliance reports. Prepares data for Medicaid and Medicare Cost Reports.
- Establishes and implements short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures and works with department managers and corporate staff to develop long range business plans for the Company.
- Directs financial audits and provides recommendations for procedural improvements.
- Prepares and distributes daily revenue, cash and census reports.
- Monitors daily deposits and reconciles with G / L posting to assure accuracy of daily reporting and facilitates month end processing and reconciliation. Reconciles balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
- Serves as a backup for the Payroll Accountant when needed.
- Supports Company fundraising efforts through provision of information for reporting purposes and annual report generation as required.
- Maintains accurate records of fixed assets.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field required.
- Four or more years' related accounting experience required, preferably in a health care setting.
