NSC Staffing is hiring for a Exterior Paint Process Technician in the automotive industry in Greencastle, IN.  This is a direct hire opportunity with pay at $21.00 / hr.  Eligible for WAI perfect attendance incentive.

Shift Details : 2nd Shift

SUMMARY :  Coordinates and assist with activities of associates engaged in maintaining and operating all equipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :   Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Train and assist associates on performing preventive maintenance assignments.
• Be able to perform machine set up, operate machinery in a safe manner, and ensure equipment safety features are in place and functioning properly.
• Make sure scrap is recorded accurately and disposed of daily and Ensure rework is completed at end of day.
• Make sure Down time is recorded accurately
• Perform white board brainstorm meeting to reduce Downtime issue
• Fill in for associates when necessary.
• Understand and be able to operate and assist individual process stations on all equipment
• Perform lock-out and tag-out (LOTO) procedures for clearing all equipment faults and restoring machine energy in accordance with established LOTO procedures.
• Inform Team Leader or Production Manager of any and all quality / safety issues.
• Accurate completion of paperwork and data entry
• Maintain 5S3D, Kaizen and all elements of SQDCME.
• Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
• Train and assist all associates on adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards. Train associates on safety related processes.
• Analyzes and provide inputs to resolves work problems or assists associates in solving work problems.
• Conducts cross training of associates to include maintaining and verifying performance levels and updating records. Keeping records of progress.
• Follows lead operators and team leader’s direction during emergencies. Understands and follows the response procedures for all types of emergency events.
• Assist on monitoring and maintaining all TPM Goals (Safety, Scrap, Customer Defects, In-Process Defects and Downtime Frequency).
• Supports and participates in continual improvement projects for Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS).
• Associates as part of their accountability to monitor controls effectively to meet requirements, and to report to department management as to compliance with these requirements.
• Measures and mixes paint material.
• Works with outside vendors to solve department issue and purchase production materials.
• Must be able to do basic TPM activities for the equipment in their work area.
• Capable of controlling Robot system efficiently while maintaining operator safety.
• Capable of painting quality parts by hand when touchups are required.
• Problem solve and implement new approaches to problems.

Education and / or Experience :

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years manufacturing experience (preferred experience with Heartland Automotive).

Competencies :

Strong interpersonal skills and good verbal and written communication skills

Computer Skills :

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Office Word and Microsoft Outlook.

Knowledge of Pareto Charts.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

Lead and guide associates on specific manufacturing lines. Carries out basic supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.  Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigned, and directing work; in addition, Lead operators will process complaints and forward and resolving problems.

Language Skills :

Ability to read and analyze information.  Ability to write reports and work instructions.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.

Mathematical Skills :

Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.

Reasoning Ability :

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

PPE Requirements : Safety glasses and any other required PPE in accordance with the SWI for the jobs you may be doing. Must be willing to attend training course to obtain OSHA 10-Hour General Industry safety certification.
