Fire Protection Technician
Location : Newark Airport Terminal A

Job Summary : The Fire Protection Technician plays a key role within the Facilities Management team to support the Fire Protection Systems within Terminal A. The Facilities Maintenance Fire Protection Technician will maintain fire protection systems and be the first investigator for all fire alarms as well as the primary point of contact for both internal and external customers. You will be part of the Munich Facilities Maintenance department operating at Newark Airport Terminal A twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and will work within the facilities maintenance department and our contractors to maintain the terminal.
Responsibilities :
- Perform monthly, quarterly, semi-annual & annual flow testing of fire protection systems and backflow preventors as per NFPA, and perform onsite emergency troubleshooting and repairs of the Terminal A fire alarm and protection systems, identifying code and non-conformance issues.
- Act as a first investigator for fire alarms / fire protection systems within Terminal A and operate the fire protection and Fire Alarming systems and software when needed.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities and able to work well with other team members and the terminal stakeholders.
- Read and interpret blueprints, submittals, and operational / product manuals.
- Ensure that work orders for planned FLS maintenance are in place and stakeholders are informed.
- Monitor the CMMS system (Maximo) to ensure all the FLS work orders are completed on time.
- Inform, communicate, and collaborate if there is an event needing other stakeholders' involvement.
- Monitor and oversee that planned and ad-hoc inspections are taking place.

- Monitor all FLS KPIs and SLAs for compliance.
- Prepare documentation for events for pre and post stakeholder meetings.
- Issue shift / daily reports as required.
- Monitor Cerberus Danager Management System & Building Management System(s) status and take appropriate action to address any received faults through management of corrective work order.
- Perform building inspections including facilities maintenance and life safety audits.
- Shift work required and will cover other shifts for PTO / vacations, as required.
Qualifications :
NICET Level II / NICET Level III Certification is preferred.Familiarity with NFPA Requirements for Fire Protection & Life Safety Systems.Minimum of 3 years of experience in the testing, inspection, and maintenance of fire sprinklers / clean agent, fire extinguishers, and related equipment.Back-flow certification is preferred and must be able to obtain S12, S13, and S14 certification within the first six months if you don't already have it.Be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs for extended periods, and lift at least thirty (30) lbs.Possess a GED, high school diploma, or equivalent.Be eligible to work in the United States.Familiarity with NFPA or willingness to learn :
