Logistics Manager
The Logistics Manager will be a part of our client’s 4-person logistics team that puts wheels under 10,000 truckloads of building products annually. This individual is a critical player in the Company’s profit proposition and in making-good on their trade commitments.

Job Type: Full-time

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate logistics operations and dispatch team
• Negotiate freight rates with carriers and brokers — transactional and contractual
• Maintain existing carrier/broker relationships and prospect, as necessary, for new potential transportation providers.
• Strategize best practices on bookings, incorporating technology for efficiency.
• Ensure scheduled shipments are in compliance with interstate trucking laws, regulation and company policy.
• Solve shipping/logistics problems and/or claims as they arise, including investigating shipper or consignee complaints relating to lost or damaged product and/or shortages in shipment.
• Quote freight rates to members on the trading floor.
• Handle all communication for dispatching all truck shipments in response to the available loads each day as well as follow up with carriers/brokers for pick-up and delivery.

Experience:

• Associates degree with a minimum of 5 years related experience.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and exceptional accuracy.
• Basic math and Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Extensive claims experience.
• Experience with brokering high volumes of full truckloads from multiple origins to multiple destinations.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Management or team leadership experience.
• Ability to collect data, identify and define problems and create effective solutions.
• Background in lumber or construction industry a plus. Understanding of invoicing/inventory management also a plus.
