Job Description
Join a High-Mix, High-Precision Team
TekPro is partnering with a premier contract machining company in the Rochester, NY area to hire a Manufacturing Engineer focused on Mastercam programming, tooling / fixture design, and process engineering for complex aerospace, defense, and medical components.
Compensation flexibility : This role typically offers high hourly pay with substantial overtime earning potential and can also be structured as a salaried position.
A day in the life
You start the morning in a climate-controlled facility reviewing a complex aerospace drawing. Solid model in hand, you open Mastercam to program a 5-axis VMC toolpath, design a modular fixture in SolidWorks, and draft clear work instructions so production can hit first-article quality on the first run. By mid-day you’re collaborating with operations and quality to troubleshoot a bottleneck on a 2–4 axis lathe, then closing the loop with an ERP update. You finish by refining a quoting package to meet a customer deadline and identifying a new technology upgrade to cut cycle time and cost.
What you’ll do
- Engineer robust, repeatable CNC processes; establish shop standards; and drive continuous improvement to stabilize production.
- Optimize manufacturing methods, machine operations, and throughput to reduce cycle time, improve quality, and deliver cost savings.
- Collaborate across management, manufacturing, and other departments to troubleshoot production needs and resolve issues quickly.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies to upgrade systems, tooling, and workflows.
- Meet customer deadlines on quotes with accurate methods and timing.
- Design and develop tooling / fixturing, work instructions, and CNC programs (Mastercam) for complex parts.
