Newton is an innovative online math workspace designed with a highly intuitive user interface to streamline workflows for engineers, data scientists, students and anyone doing high-stakes math. At Newton we are developing a new language and UI for mathematics that will make creating and sharing math 100x faster than existing tools like spreadsheets / MATLAB.

Role Description

This is a co-founder / founding engineer role meaning high responsibility and high ownership of the company and product. Primary work today is UX / UI / Engineering. This will not be a remote company, though some remote work will be acceptable for the first few months. Must be able to meet up in the Bay Area or Los-Angeles Metro Area (I often travel between them). In this role, you will collaborate with the team to design, prototype, and develop intuitive user interfaces, focusing on user-centric design principles. Day-to-day tasks include implementing front-end components, testing with users, and contributing to software development initiatives. You will also play a vital role in shaping the product's vision.

Qualifications

• Strong Front-End Development skills, including experience with modern frameworks and libraries (React).
• Proficiency in Visual Design tools and principles, complemented by User Experience (UX) and User Experience Design (UED) capabilities.
• Ability to translate complex user needs into simple, elegant, and functional designs.
• Strong problem-solving skills and collaboration experience in a startup or fast-paced environment.
• Willing to learn any task required, no task will be below or above us.
• Willing to work hard including weekends if needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Design, or a related field is beneficial.
