Education and Experience
High school diploma / GED.Five (5) years of experience in land use development and engineering design.Licenses or Certifications
Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.Key Responsibilities
Inspects for any city ordinance requirement for the purpose of ensuring compliance with regulations and quality control, recognizes potential problems / violations, discusses necessary modifications / changes and ensures corrective measures are carried out.Researches plans, specifications, diagrams and related data prior to and during inspections to establish compliance with regulations; ensure the proper sequencing of tasks; recognize problems, violations and update information / documentation.Conducts field inspections for various types of seawalls, alternative seawalls, slopes, rip-rap, repairs, davits, captains walks, concrete pads, retaining wall on sea walls, wells and related structures, boat docks, fences and related areas to ensure plan and specification compliance in accordance with City Ordinances.Inspects projects for quality of work, proper applicant / contractor credentials / licenses, and proper use and application of materials, mechanical and specialized equipment.Consults / discusses with contractors, field personnel, and regulatory agencies for the purpose of coordinating sequencing task, establish compliance and providing / exchanging information for upcoming projects.Receives and investigates city ordinance complaints from the public, performs inspections, and provides oral and / or written response concerning problems encountered and necessary corrective actions.Determines inspections and prepares tickets required in order to bringing about compliance in the field.Renders approvals or disapprovals of inspections sites.Advises contractors of inspection related problems.Participates in data compilation and assimilation into various reports and studies concerning assigned functional area, as directed.Reprioritizes tasks as necessary to meet permit deadlines.Assists the public and city personnel with related questions and issues.Participates in workshops, seminars and various other forms of continuing education to maintain current job knowledge.May be required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of assigned tasks.Maintains assigned vehicle in accordance with municipal policy and procedure.Performs other related duties as required.Please review the full job description by clicking on the link below.
