Primary Purpose
Testing and Commissioning engineers are a front-line field engineering force that commissions, maintains, and troubleshoots transmission and distribution level protection and control systems inside ComEd substations.
The Testing and Commissioning engineers perform field testing and commissioning engineering activities associated with installation of new equipment along with troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance of existing equipment.
Primary Duties
Testing and Commissioning engineers are the technical authority in the field. They provide leadership by directing and supporting substation maintenance and contractor crews on work associated with these systems.
Job Scope
Conduct CMs, PMs, and project installation testing activities on power equipment
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in a technical field and 3 or more years of technical experience, an associate's degree and 5 or more years of technical experience, or 7 or more years of technical experience or relevant education, if non-degreed or a non-technical degree.
- Successful completion of the TECH Test.
- Broad knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform assignments for a specific discipline for maintenance, testing, installation or service
- Testing Group positions require demonstrated ability to direct crews during maintenance or commissioning of equipment or systems
- Distribution Testing positions require demonstrated ability using OJE process to independently investigate and test / troubleshoot & commission distribution automation system equipment
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills
- Valid driver's license
- Requires frequent travel to various company substations or other locations within the service territory
- Must be available to work shifts and respond to emergency situations (7 days per week / 24 hours per day)
- Knowledge of complex field test equipment.
