Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Cath Lab position requiring interventional radiology experience, an active NC or compact RN license, and BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a hospital Cath Lab department with a focus on interventional radiology (IR) and cardiac procedures
  • Assignment consists of a 13-week contract with 8-hour day shifts from 7 : 30am to 4 : 00pm, Monday through Friday
  • Patient population includes interventional radiology, invasive cardiology, peripheral vascular, and EP device implant cases, with approximately 85% IR and 15% cardiac procedures
  • Target RN-to-patient ratio is 1 : 3-4
  • Staff participate in a weekly rotation covering all listed services and are included in a 24 / 7 call schedule for STEMI, emergent / urgent IR, and cardiology cases
  • Call is required twice a week for two weeks per month, including one call weekend (Friday night through Monday morning) per month; callback time for STEMIs is 30 minutes
  • Uses Epic for charting and various specialized equipment including MAC Lab, IVUS, Toshiba Angio Lab, and others
  • No floating is required for this assignment
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Main duties include assisting in all aspects of Cath Lab and IR procedures, including scrub and circulate roles
  • Staff provide procedure coverage through weekly rotation and participate in urgent / emergent cardiology and IR interventions
  • Unit orientation consists of 16 hours
  • 30-minute callback required for STEMI cases; IR callback timing based on procedure type
  • Travelers must not take additional RTO after booking and must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Lab hours are Monday through Friday, with required 24 / 7 call rotation
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility will be offered at a lower local rate
  • Travel pairs are allowed but must work on different units

  • Active NC or compact RN license required at time of start
  • Minimum of 2 years recent Cath Lab and interventional radiology experience required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required
  • Proficiency in scrubbing, circulating, telemetry, and providing STEMI call coverage required
  • Experience with Epic EMR required
  • Preferred skills : IV start, triage, PA lines, and conscious sedation
  • Previous permanent or PRN staff at Novant Health or New Hanover must have a 12-month waiting period before reapplying as a traveler
  • Must provide two professional references from supervisors within the past 12 months
