St. John Paul II Academy – High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, is seeking to hire a qualified Math Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. The desired applicant will be able to provide engaging instruction, possess a high level of content mastery, and be experienced at teaching the high school level.
Ministerial Character
The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church ("the Diocese") entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.
Responsibilities

- As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Continuously grows in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
- Plans for successful student learning of daily objectives that include basic knowledge and skills, and central concepts of the discipline
- Ensures students are engaged and successful in learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving
- Able to effectively manage time and materials
- Maintains current records for student grades and progress
- Able to provide engaging instruction, possess a high level of content mastery, and be experienced at teaching high school level mathematics
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mathematics or a Bachelor's Degree plus 24 hours in math12 credit hours in education are required or the appropriate state certificationMust be a practicing Catholic in good standingValid Texas Driver's License requiredMust be at least 21 years of ageSpecial Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction in their area of certificationKnowledge of effective instructional strategies, assessment strategies, and motivational strategies that promote authentic student engagementPlanning and organization skillsEffective oral and written communications skills with students and adultsAbility to effectively embed available technology into daily lesson plansAdditional Requirements
