Schedule : 8 hours per day between 7AM-7PM CST (Monday to Friday)
Job Description
The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for providing exceptional pharmaceutical care and ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient pharmacy operations. This role involves supervising Pharmacy Technicians, verifying prescriptions, and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day pharmaceutical care and management of patients.
- Supervise Pharmacy Technicians to ensure compliant, accurate, and efficient operations in accordance with State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
- Review and verify all work completed by Pharmacy Technicians, including complex prescriptions, automation system outputs, and order processing.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, clinics, and prescribers regarding medication therapy and patient care.
- Review prescriptions prior to dispensing, verify accuracy, and resolve any questionable or unclear prescriptions.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of all pharmaceutical products in compliance with federal, state, and accrediting agency standards (e.g., NABP).
- Maintain required continuing education credits and ensure credentials remain active and compliant with state licensure requirements.
- Assist with shipping logistics, including order review and support before and after shipment.
- Ensure adherence to all Cardinal Health and hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Maintain a current and active license to practice Pharmacy in the state of Texas.
Qualifications
Education : Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or equivalent from an accredited institution.License : Active and unrestricted license to practice Pharmacy in the state of Texas (required).Experience : Minimum of 3–5 years as a practicing pharmacist preferred.Technical Skills :In-depth knowledge of pharmacy operations, state / federal regulations, and drug storage protocols.Experience with pharmacy automation systems and high-volume prescription processing.Soft Skills :Strong attention to detail and accuracy in fast-paced environments.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills.Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with pharmacy staff and multidisciplinary teams.Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and continuing education.Additional Requirements
