MATERIALS SUPERVISOR

Essential Functions:

• Adherence to NSG/Piklington Code of Ethics
• Take a leadership role in promoting quality, employee development, and cost reduction initiatives
• Develop systems to consistently communicate expectations and priorities to the supervisors and hourly employees on a daily basis. Follow up to ensure all expectations are met
• Monitor process and operations performance and implement systems to improve performance. Utilize the 8-step problem solving process to continually improve performance.
• Train Shift Leadership Team in standard operating procedures (SOP's) and ensure the hourly employees are properly trained. Conduct regular audits to ensure SOT content is current and operators understand SOP's.
• Optimize flow of materials within the department to ensure maximum efficiency
• Manage departmental expenses to meet budget. Work with department employee to create cost reduction projects
• Review and monitor departmental equipment and supplies to make sure that they are available and in proper working order
• Maintain and update packaging instructions ensuring that we are conforming to corporate packaging standards. Develop and improve packaging techniques to ensure all customer expectations are met. Work with packaging vendors to maintain quality, adequate stocks of materials and on time delivery
• Assist in commission of new plant equipment and other systems to ensure that this introduction into the production facility is handled efficiently and within minimum disruption
• Interface with Maintenance Team to develop priorities and to ensure that all maintenance work is completed as required to meet or exceed expectations
• Ensure all activities are performed in a safe manner. Pro-actively address all unsafe conditions. Properly investigate all safety incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
• Establish and maintain 5's system. Work with Shift Leadership Team
• Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and it Values and Principles
• Other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work-related experience
• Manufacturing experience
• Computer skills in Microsoft office software, spreadsheets, word processing, database, and graphics
• Leadership and management skills
