Description : Job Summary

The Finance Manager is a critical member of the Finance Department. Manages the Finance staff who are responsible for grant reporting, cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable and the month end close. The Finance Manager works in a fast-paced environment, must be able to accept a structured work environment that meets deadlines, and works well under pressure. The Finance Manager provides the necessary leadership to ensure accurate reporting and the safeguard of corporate assets. This position requires supervision skills.

  • Assists the VP of Finance in developing the financial reports.
  • Assists the VP of Finance in reviewing budgets for grant proposals.
  • Assists the VP of Finance in reviewing the organization-wide fiscal year budget.
  • Working with the VP of Finance, assists in the preparation of quarterly budget status reports for the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Oversees all government grants and contracts.
  • Serves as one of the point of contacts for contract monitors (at granting agencies).
  • Receives and reviews grant documents before they are executed.
  • Receives grant budgets and sets them up in accounting systems including inputting initial budgets into Sage Intacct.
  • Maintains organized contract files electronically and hard files.
  • Assists the VP of Finance with grant budget modifications.
  • Serves as first line of review and approval for transactions to be billed to grants.
  • Monitors budget to actuals for each grant and plans, with the VP of Finance, grant closeout functions.
  • Monitors subrecipient and subcontractor contracts and regular invoicing.
  • Review monthly and quarterly invoices for funders as well as other financial reports.
  • Monitors invoicing and billing process.
  • Ensure compliance of grant spending with corporate policies / procedures and donor rules / regulations.
  • Serves as the first line of review and approval for vendor invoices.
  • Manage Gift Card inventory and perform gift card audits.
  • Manages, monitors, and records all necessary accounts receivables entries; follows-up with necessary grantors when payments are late; monitoring / managing cash (deposits, transfer of funds, bank reconciliations) grants, grant requirements and grants budgets, and assists in the management of the organization budgets.
  • Assists in preparation for, and serves as liaison for, grants audits by the granting agencies and the yearly financial statement audit.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with program staff regarding needs and budget status.
  • Other duties may be required by the VP of Finance.

    Education and Experience Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required or ten experience working in an accounting environment in lieu of degree.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Minimum Five years of progressively responsible grant accounting experience.
  • Experience working with Federal, State and County Grants.
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Strong computer and database management skills required.
  • Experience working with Sage Intacct software.
  • Proficiency with automated systems and willingness and ability to learn new software packages.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
