Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position in California, requiring a CA RN license and strong OB skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of an acute care hospital
  • Care for a culturally diverse, high-risk obstetric patient population
  • RNs circulate on cesarean section procedures
  • Night shifts, three 12-hour shifts per week (18 : 00–06 : 30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Use of Epic EMR system is required
  • Floating required within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
  • Provide specialized nursing care to laboring mothers and support for high-risk pregnancies
  • Expected to float between units and sister facilities as needed
  • Scrub attire is any solid color; Royal Blue or Navy is typical
  • Free parking is provided on the first day; assignment parking provided during orientation
  • Completion of online training modules required prior to starting
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Willingness to work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) is required
  • All time-off requests must be declared during application
  • Housing options may be limited in the area

    • Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience
  • Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NRP required
  • Experience with high-risk obstetric care
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Two supervisory references from the past three years in a comparable setting required
  • Cannot have a permanent residence within a 50-mile radius of the facility for travel rate eligibility
  • Former permanent staff must wait 3 months before returning as a traveler
