L & S is looking for a Field Service Technician. We are seeking a self?motivated professional that has excellent problem?solving and communication skills and is able to work with a team as well as independently. We are willing to train if someone has an interest in electricity and power.
Field Service Technician
Responsibilities
- Ground grid testing, medium voltage cable testing.
- Service and test transformers, relays, breakers, switches, and other electrical apparatus / systems at utility substations and industrial facilities.
- Troubleshoot and test control circuits, communications systems, protection systems and other electrical apparatus.
- Perform breaker and relay retrofits.
- Ability to read prints and control / protection schemes.
- Complete and submit reports accurately and timely.
- All other duties as assigned by management.
- Apply test procedures for various types of relay test equipment.
- Substation awareness and safety consciousness.
- Aptitude to quickly learn and apply test procedures for various types of substation equipment.
- Good PC skills and the ability to support testing activities as required by the project lead.
- Perform testing on low and medium voltage breakers including Megger, Ductor, Hi?Pot, Hi?Current, and timing tests.
- Testing on power transformers including Power Factor, TTR, Insulation Resistance, Winding Resistance.
- Computer skills must include minimum of Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook, as well as software programs designed to interface with the test equipment used for testing and reporting.
- Complete mechanical work and repairs on breakers including wiring, painting, and parts replacement.
- Utilize and accurately read meters.
- Reading and plotting curves.
Requirements
AA in Electrical Power, EE, or 5+ years field experience.Proficient computer and phone skills, to include Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).Ability to work a flexible schedule based on client / customer needs.Valid drivers license.Effective communication skills.Extensive travel; up to 5 days / week with overnights possible.On?call duty approximately six times per year.Experience as a Switchgear / High Voltage Technician. Proficiency with high voltage test equipment as well as knowledge of low and medium voltage test equipment.Preferred
Prior experience in a similar position.Electrical and mechanical aptitude.Physical Demands
Requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, crawling, and reaching frequently.May require working on ladders or scaffolding.Occasional lifting of heavy objects up to 50?lbs.Requires use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.Must adhere to applicable safety practices for the site.Underscored on uneven or slippery walking surfaces.Must wear proper PPE (hearing protection, safety glasses, hard hat, etc.).Additional Information
