Overview
The Food Technician supports product development, formulation, testing, and technical activities across the company’s frozen food and bakery portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Director of R&D, this role provides hands-on bench work, plant trial support, product evaluations, and documentation to ensure new and existing products meet quality, nutrition, cost, and operational feasibility standards. This individual collaborates closely with Operations, Procurement, Quality Assurance, and Innovation to execute development projects and support the company’s growth initiatives across Retail, K-12, C-Store, and Foodservice channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, formulation, and testing of new food products.
- Support product evaluations including sensory testing, shelf-life studies, and quality assessments.
- Participate in plant trials and production validations to ensure scalability and consistency.
- Maintain accurate formulations, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Provide basic technical support to troubleshoot product and process issues.
- Assist with reformulation projects that improve quality, reduce cost, or support USDA / nutritional requirements.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Procurement, and Innovation teams to support product launches and improvements.
Education & Experience
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Culinary Science, Baking Science, or related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience accepted.1–3 years of experience in food product development, QA, production, or technical support within a food manufacturing environment.Experience with frozen, bakery, dough-based, or processed foods is a plus.Familiarity with USDA nutritional requirements or K-12 foodservice is a plus.Competencies
