SQL Database Administrator / Developer (Contract)

Location : Houston, TX (Remote + Onsite ~3x / month, The Woodlands / North Houston)

Duration : 3-Month Contract, may extend

Schedule : Monday-Friday, 6 : 00 a.m.-2 : 00 p.m. or 7 : 00 a.m.-3 : 00 p.m

W2, must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer. Sub vendors not considered.

Overview

Dexian is recruiting for a client seeking a hands-on SQL Database Administrator / Developer to optimize and modernize SQL Server environments as part of a database merge and upgrade to SQL Server 2022 . This role blends administration, performance tuning, and development - ideal for someone who thrives in a small, fast-moving technical team.

What You'll Do

Review and optimize SQL Server environments (2019+).

Analyze and document stored procedures, indexes, and performance bottlenecks.

Lead a database merge and migration to SQL Server 2022.

Collaborate with developers and DevOps on automation and CI / CD integration.

Build a project plan outlining improvements, fixes, and recommendations.

What We're Looking For

5+ years of SQL Server DBA / Developer experience.

Strong in T-SQL, performance tuning, and stored procedure optimization .

Experience with AWS (RDS / EC2) and CI / CD tools like CodeBuild or Bitbucket.

Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Based in Houston or within easy driving distance for onsite collaboration.
