Position overview : The General Manager - Fire Alarm / Security Systems background

Key Responsibilities :

Business Operations Oversight

Manage the overall operations of the business, including project planning, scheduling, customer relations, and team performance.

Implement and refine internal processes to improve productivity, efficiency, and profitability.

Coordinate across departments (installation, service, finance, sales, admin) to ensure aligned objectives.

Financial Management

Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning in coordination with company ownership.

Analyze financial reports to monitor company health, identify trends, and make informed decisions.

Approve and manage major purchases, contracts, and vendor relationships.

Sales & Estimating

Lead the development of sales strategies to achieve revenue goals.

Review and approve all project bids, estimates, and proposals to ensure accuracy and profitability.

Maintain relationships with key clients, general contractors, and suppliers.

Leadership & Team Development

Supervise and support department heads, ensuring accountability and performance.

Conduct regular meetings and reviews to ensure teams are aligned with company goals.

Recruit, train, and develop high-performing staff

Compliance & Safety

Ensure all work performed is in compliance with local, state, and federal codes and regulations.

Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety standards and protocols.

Monitor licensing and insurance requirements.

Qualifications :

Proven experience in a management or executive leadership role, preferably within the security, fire alarm, or low-voltage industry.

Strong understanding of estimating, bidding, and job costing practices in construction and service work.

Knowledge of fire and security system components, installation practices, and applicable codes is a strong plus.

Demonstrated financial acumen and experience managing P&L responsibilities.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in business management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Valid driver's license with clean driving record

Alarm License is required

NICET Certification preferred

Physical Requirements :

Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.

Occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 25 lbs.

May occasionally be required to visit job sites, including climbing ladders, navigating uneven terrain, and entering confined spaces.

Ability to work in environments that may be noisy, dusty, or require PPE.

Visual acuity and dexterity to work with computers, review technical drawings, and read fine print.
