Overview :
Reporting to the Inventory and Supply Chain Controller, the Logistics Manager which is an entry level management position, will oversee and optimize our company's logistics, shipping and receiving operations. The role will be responsible for managing the internal and external movement of materials, ensuring efficient and cost-effective supply chain management. Furthermore, this role must ensure we are DOT compliant with our assets and truck drivers. This position will play a crucial role in coordinating logistics and warehouse operations, helping the team when needed, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance overall efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions :
- Promote and drive safety-first culture, ensuring the safety of employees, contractors, customers, and visitors.
- Lead and develop high-performing logistics, shipping and receiving teams, providing coaching, training, and guidance to enhance individual and team performance.
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of transportation and distribution activities including scheduling and invoicing routes for truck drivers daily.
- Ensure DOT compliance is being met at all times. This includes items such as, up to date cab and medical cards, tags, insurance, and clean MVR records.
- Collaborate with internal teams, such as procurement and sales, to ensure seamless coordination and timely delivery of goods.
- Conduct regular evaluations of logistics operations, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance.
- Utilize logistics software to optimize logistics operations, track shipments, and generate reports for management review.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills / Experience Requirements :
High school diploma or GED2-5 years of experience in logistics (preferred) or supply chain management.In-depth knowledge of logistics, shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.CDL license and forklift certification are a plus.Experience driving tractor trucks, forklifts and moffetts are preferred.Manage effective inventory movement and accuracy.Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Effective leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and customers.Proficiency in using logistics software systems and Microsoft Office suite.Physical Requirements :
Sitting, walking and / or standing for long periods of time.Routine lifting up to 50 lbs.Frequent stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, reaching, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing and pulling.
